Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 26, and ends when the Triduum begins on Holy Thursday, April 9. This season of prayer, fasting, and charity is a time of preparation for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone celebrates the 11:00 a.m. Mass in St. Mary's Cathedral on the first Sunday of Lent.
The Mass will be livestreamed here.
"The purpose of Lent is to keep alive in our consciousness and our life the fact that being a Christian can only take the form of becoming a Christian ever anew; that it is not an event now over and done with but a process requiring constant practice."
-- Pope Benedict XVI
