Bishop Ignatius Wang’s 60th Anniversary of Ordination
All are welcome to a Mass in celebration of Auxiliary
Bishop Emeritus Ignatius C. Wang’s 60th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. Bishop Wang will preside at a Mass of thanksgiving to the Lord for his priesthood and will celebrate the Feast of the Chinese Martyrs, as well as dedicating a special day of prayer for the Catholic Church in China.
As Fr. Peter Zhai, SVD, director of ministry to Chinese Catholics, has written:
"Rejoice and be glad!” This is the Lord’s constant message in the Bible. This year, God blesses us with another joyful occasion in Bishop Wang's anniversary marking sixty years of priesthood. We are ever grateful to God for His loving presence manifested in Bishop Wang’s life and in his dedicated priestly service. Born in China, growing up in the persecuted Church, Ignatius Wang was forced to leave his hometown and eventually his home country, and settled in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. However, Bishop Wang is always conscious of his cultural heritage and his Christian roots in China, and his concerns and his prayers are unceasingly with the Church in China. As we all are aware, the Church in China is under growing external pressure and needs prayers more than ever."
Following the Mass, there will be a banquet in honor of Bishop Wang in the Cathedral Events Center. Banquet tickets are $30 per person.
