Pam Lyons, Superintendent of Schools, announces the appointment of three new Associate Superintendents to support her in administering the schools of the archdiocese. These positions were formerly held by Bret Allen (retiring May 31), Nina Russo (retired in March as interim Superintendent); and Ms. Lyons.
"Carol Grewal will be the Associate Superintendent for Faith Formation & Leadership effective July 10, 2017. Carol is an enthusiastic and passionate educational leader with over 25 years of experience in teaching and administration in San Francisco and international Catholic elementary schools. She has served in a number of leadership roles within the parish and Archdiocesan communities and regional and national professional advocacy organizations. Currently she is the principal of St. Brendan Catholic School in San Francisco, where she is responsible for leading a community of over 300 students and 40 faculty and staff members.
"Susana Lapeyrade-Drummond will assume her role as Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction effective August 3, 2017. Susana is a dynamic and passionate educator with 25+ years of experience in education. She served as principal for Holy Rosary School in Antioch for 16 years and for the past four years has been in the classroom as a teaching V.P. Her strengths include maximizing student/teacher potential, progressive learning techniques, strategic planning, and professional staff development. She is adept at building productive relationships and communicating effectively with students, parents, teachers and administrators. Susana attended school and began her teaching career in the Archdiocese of San Francisco and recently chaired the WCEA accreditation at St. Catherine of Siena.
"Dr. Jonathan Schild is the new Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools and Student Services, effective July 24. Jonathan graduated from Claremont McKenna with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Psychology. He was also a four-year letterman in both swimming and water polo and was selected as an All-American swimmer for four years. He received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Loyal Marymount University. Recently, he completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Jonathan is currently the principal at Crespi Carmelite High School in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where he has worked since 1999 in positions including head water polo coach, math and psychology teacher, counselor and Vice Principal of Academics. Jonathan will be supporting the High Schools as well as working on Federal Funding programs, I-20 program for international students, health and safety program, among other initiatives.
