Dear Friends in Christ:
Every year for our Archdiocesan Annual Appeal we lift up some of the many ways the Catholic faith is alive and active here in our local church that is the Archdiocese of San Francisco. This year we will focus on some inspiring examples of people living out their faith, often quietly and out of public view. The theme of the Appeal for 2017 is taken from the Gospel of St. Matthew: “Let your light shine before all people … and glorify your Father in heaven” (Mt 5:16).
Every year I am moved by the generosity of our Catholic faithful in support of the Archdiocese. Some good examples of this generosity are seen in the Appeal video for this year, which will highlight the Saint Anthony of Padua Dining Room in Menlo Park, the Young Adult group at Saint Dominic parish, and the work of the Dominican Sisters at Marin Catholic High School. These individuals and ministries represent all of you, who are committed to fostering faith and good works in our Archdiocese.
The Annual Appeal is a way for us all to support each other as we seek to follow Christ more closely. As I think of all those who benefit from your faithful dedication, I am reminded yet again of how blessed we are here in the local church of San Francisco. None of us can go it alone, and your Appeal donation is one way of recognizing and supporting our solidarity. I invite you to participate in our Archdiocesan Annual Appeal this year by making a sacrificial gift to the Appeal. Please know how deeply grateful I am for your willingness to consider doing so.
Thank you for all you do to bring life to others: in your families, in your neighborhoods, and in your local parishes. As the Archdiocese embarks on this Annual Appeal, I urge you to be as generous as you can in support of our ministries.
With my gratitude for your continued support of our Archdiocese, and with my prayerful best wishes, I am,
Sincerely yours in our Lord,
Most Reverend Salvatore J. Cordileone
Archbishop of San Francisco
