Melanie M. Morey, Ed. D.
Dr. Melanie M. Morey is the director of the Office of Catholic Identity Assessment and Formation in the Archdiocese of San Francisco and an Associate Superintendent. Prior to taking this position, Dr. Morey served as the Provost at Saint Patrick’s Seminary & University, Menlo Park, California.
Dr. Morey received her doctorate in higher education administration from Harvard. She has worked as a researcher and consultant with a full array of Catholic institutions over the past thirty-eight years. She also has been actively involved in working with various groups to more effectively address issues of governance, sponsorship, leadership, institutional identity and Catholic culture.
Dr. Morey is a contributor to Catholic Women’s Colleges in America (ed. Schier and Russett, Johns Hopkins University Press, 2002). She is also a contributor to A Mission Officer Handbook: Advancing Catholic Identity and University Mission, Vol. I (2014). Together with John J. Piderit, S.J. she has authored Catholic Higher Education: A Culture in Crisis (Oxford University Press, 2006) Renewing Parish Cultures (Sheed and Ward, 2008) and Teaching the Tradition: A Disciplinary Approach to the Catholic Intellectual Tradition (Oxford University Press, 2012).
