Learn about Mary and the
Consecration of the Archdiocese to her Immaculate Heart
What is a Consecration to Mary?
A "consecration" is an act by which a person is dedicated to a sacred service, or an act which dedicates an object, location, or region to a sacred purpose. For centuries, Marian devotions among Catholics have included many examples of personal or collective acts of consecration and entrustment to the Virgin Mary, with the Latin terms oblatio, servitus, commendatio, and dedicatio having been used in this context.

What happened at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917?
Near the town of Fatima, Portugal, between May 13 and October 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children. She told them that she had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman, and child, and said that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if her requests for prayer, reparation, and consecration were heard and obeyed.
On this webpage -- see below, under "Getting to Know Our Lady of Fatima,"
-- Fr. Joseph Previtali of the Archdiocese of San Francisco recounts the story of the apparitions at Fatima in brief chapters, suitable for downloading, printing, and posting during these months of our preparation for the consecration of the archdiocese to Mary's Immaculate Heart on October 7, 2017.
